Seven people were beheaded on Saturday night (04/28/2012) at a farm 43 km from the municipality of Doverlândia, in southern Goiás, 413 km from the capital. According to the Military Police, the victims are: the farmer, 57 years old, his son, 22 years old, a farmhand, 34 years old, a friend of the farmer, 51 years old, the friend's wife, 65 years old, the couple's son, 22 years old, and the young man's wife, 24 years old.
According to Military Police (PM) Sergeant Divino Celso Teles, a 14-year-old teenager was in the farm's pasture at the time of the crime and heard screams. The teenager, who is the son of the murdered farmhand, reportedly sought out the farmer's brother-in-law in another part of the property to ask for help.
According to the police, the farmer and his son were allegedly beheaded inside the house and dragged by the criminals to the residence's bathroom. Based on the teenager's account, the police reported that four people arrived at the property on Saturday night to visit the farmer. According to the police, the farmhand accompanied the group toward the house, but they were all allegedly attacked in the vicinity of the residence. The victims' screams reportedly caught the teenager's attention in the pasture.
Still according to Teles, the bodies of the other five victims were found on a side road near the farm on Sunday morning (29).
“At the moment, it is not possible to speak about the causes of the crime. From what was observed, nothing was ransacked. The perpetrator seems to have gone to the farmer's bedroom and approached a suitcase, but apparently nothing was taken,” says the sergeant.
According to initial police information, the property owner and his son were the first to be murdered. The others were allegedly executed as a way to eliminate witnesses.
The bodies were taken to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) in Iporá, 234 km from Goiânia, in the center of the state. According to initial information, the crime will be investigated by the 7th Regional Civil Police Station in Iporá.
This happens at a time when the Civil Police of Goiás is inaugurating a police station specialized in combating rural crimes. One must have faith that this case will be solved.
