The man accused of the murder of 59-year-old Paulo Roberto Vinhal, killed by sledgehammer blows, and the theft of his Fiat Uno vehicle and some of the victim's belongings, changed his version of events in a statement given this Tuesday morning to police chief Geraldo Barbosa.
Contrary to what he had said in his statement last Monday (26), Guilherme Henrique da Silva, 19, said he did not have a relationship with the victim and that he provided painting services to Paulo Roberto Vinhal.
The change in his story occurred after the victim's family confirmed that Paulo Roberto was homosexual. According to the police chief, the victim had twelve children and had been with several women. In the new statement, the accused said he provided painting services at the houses the victim was building in the Tiradentes neighborhood.
Guilherme also revealed that he killed the man after an argument in which the victim said he would only pay him after the completion of the work. According to the police chief, the family confirmed the information about the houses that were being built and found a list with the names of people who provided services to the victim, which included Guilherme's name. Investigations are expected to continue to confirm the true circumstances of the crime.
Arrest
The crime occurred on the night of the 23rd, at a bar owned by the victim. Guilherme Henrique da Silva was arrested and gave a statement this Monday (26) at the Community Emergency Police Station (Depac) in Vila Piratininga, in Campo Grande.
According to the police, Guilherme Henrique da Silva was arrested after being spotted by Vinhal's daughter driving the victim's car.
