Wreckage of the Titan, an image of wreckage should cost millions.

Behind the scenes of the operation to locate, identify, and investigate what truly happened to the Titan submersible, speculation is already beginning about who will be the first to visit the site.

The 05 deaths from the predictable tragedy, and its failed contraption, will join the attractions for the millionaires and billionaires who visit the site.

In the absence of Jurassic Park or luxury restaurants on the Moon, billionaires spend their money on dinners of mammoth meat genetically recreated from DNA extracted from frozen remains of extinct animals, in adventures inside capsules thrown to the highest part of the atmosphere or the depths of the ocean.

Many, like me, were excited to follow these adventures, believing they were pure science!... What an illusion.

In fact, dedication to pure science, with no purpose other than the advancement of humanity, is today restricted to small government investments.

But we have to accept that such studies do not exist. Today's concern is to make money at any cost. No matter how.

An example of this is the Titan. A true engineering setback. Created with carbon fiber (read plastic sheeting in layers) that reached the depths thanks to lead pipes found in scrap iron yards.

There was never any doubt that engineering could create a vehicle capable of reaching a depth of 4,000 meters. The challenge was to produce a vehicle from parts that could be bought on a Chinese marketplace.

Unlike scientific advances that bring progress to humanity, cost races do not bring evolution. BUT they undoubtedly teach us lessons.

Soon we will have trips to the Titanic wreckage, with a quick stop at 482 meters from the Titan OceanGate. Are you in?

One point I'd like to make is about the constant attacks on businessman, CEO, and self-proclaimed mad scientist, Stockton Rush:

Was he a scoundrel? Probably. Billionaires who declined the trip claimed that he said the journey in the Titan was as safe as a plane ride or crossing the street. Rush also dismissively and ambitiously scorned safety. BUT Rush didn't use a van to pick up children on the street and drag them to the depths of the ocean. Rush presented his proposal to people capable of easily identifying the risk they were facing by making a phone call.

Even the simplest person doing a Google search would identify that Rush's company had no credentials for what it proposed to do. It was something completely experimental and the focus of continuous criticism.

Who would buy a vacation package without even typing the company name into Google? And if they typed it and read horrors about it, would they still be optimistic?

And what if the company owner were to travel with you? Would he put safety above his own profit expectations?... This will be discussed in another article, but I already point to the Chapecoense tragedy as a reference case. Company Owner X Company Vehicle Pilot.
