The one-child policy, a type of population control policy that has been in place since 1979, will continue for a few more years. This news circulated in newspapers this Sunday, October 30, 2011.
This policy prevented a population growth of half a billion people in China. This is good, so that more people can have access to essential health and education services, but because of this:
- the Chinese population is becoming increasingly older.
- girls are killed or abandoned on the streets, which has as one of its consequences a gender imbalance, preventing people from marrying and having healthy family relationships.
This sad reality is not harmful to the world, but it adds to so many sad things that happen in the Dictatorial Republic of China, a warrior and fighting people, but one that suffers so much.

The One-Child Policy is a law that imposes severe fines on those who have more than one child. Because of this, there are currently about 80 million only children in China (nicknamed "little emperors"). Exceptions exist for rural communities, which may have a second child if the first is a girl, even though many prefer abortion.
