Learn more about this image by clicking here.

In September, we will complete one year of waiting. The murder of publicist Polyanna Borges Arruda remains unsolved. When the incident occurred, the police stated that the victim had been sexually assaulted and then killed; this information was later denied. Little news circulates in the newspapers; one piece of information is that the victim's mother requested the transfer of the police station responsible for the investigation.

On July 27th of this year, the newspaper Diário da Manhã published an article about the case, which is also available on the MP GO website and here:

Who killed Polyanna Borges?

Today marks ten months since publicist Polyanna Borges Arruda Leopoldino, 26, was cruelly murdered, and the story of her assassination is still murky. The inquiry investigating her death was transferred from the State Criminal Investigations Delegation (Deic) to the State Delegation for Repression of Theft and Robbery of Motor Vehicles (DERFRVA) at the request of the young woman's mother, Tânia Borges. "The change was necessary due to the time factor, as evidence is disappearing," Tânia justifies.

What is certain is that the inquiry changed police stations and investigators, but there is still no solution. Delegate Valdemir Pereira da Silva, adjutant of DERFRVA, who is now in charge of the case, stated that it is still too early to make any statements regarding the publicist's death or to identify possible culprits. "We took over the case a week ago and are still reading the inquiry. But we are working to identify the perpetrators," he emphasizes. "I believe in his work and think the case will be 100% solved soon," reinforces Tânia Borges.
She believes the Federal Police (PF) should be involved in the investigation of her daughter's death to unravel the crime. Tânia emphasizes that she trusts the work of the Civil Police, especially now that the inquiry has been transferred, but assures that if the PF works together with the Goiás police, the case will certainly have a faster resolution. "We are fighting on various fronts so that the crime committed against my daughter is not left without clarification and justice," she reinforces.

"I had a confidential conversation with Valdemir Pereira (delegate), who sought to understand Polyanna's profile. Furthermore, he showed himself to be attentive and willing to solve the case quickly. We left the meeting satisfied," says the publicist's mother. However, this did not stop her from organizing an online petition to request the Federal Police's participation in the investigations. She appeals: "This fight is not just mine. We need to demand our rights guaranteed by the Constitution from the authorities," she laments.

"We are requesting the Federal Police's support in the investigations. That's why we organized the petition. But we need five thousand signatures to have an impact and sensitize the authorities," comments Tânia Borges. The Minister of Justice, Luiz Paulo Teles Barreto, made the PF available to work with the Goiás Civil Police, but this depends on a request from the state government, which has not happened.

DISAPPEARANCE
Publicist Polyanna Arruda Borges disappeared on September 23rd of last year. Almost 24 hours later, the Civil Police found the young woman's body on the banks of Córrego Caveirinha, in Residencial Humaitá, in the northern region of Goiânia. The vehicle she was driving, a Prisma, was found partially burned on Rua Xavante, in Residencial Caraíba, also in the northern region of the city.
Personal belongings of the victim, such as her laptop and bag, were not taken. However, the report from the Legal Medical Institute (IML) revealed that Polyanna was asphyxiated, raped, and murdered with at least seven shots. She disappeared while on her way to a university in the capital to give a lecture to advertising students.
