A curious email I received. (at the end of this article)
But it is not entirely correct, as it only shows a point in time, not its evolution. An example is Minas Gerais, which in 1999 had Belo Horizonte as the municipality with the 4th largest GDP in the country, and by 2002, it had fallen to 5th place, surpassed by Manaus, which held that spot in 1999.

Thus, there is an ebb and flow that can signify both government actions and the valuation of certain products in the market. An example is the relationship between agricultural products and electronics. 10 years ago, beans were not such an expensive item in the basic food basket, while a cell phone or computer was very expensive. Today, the electronics market has become popular and has lost ground to China, while agricultural products have appreciated significantly.
This scale is unfair, as it deals with States, not municipalities.
There are many self-sustaining municipalities, but the States they belong to need money from the Union to maintain them.
// START OF THE EMAIL I RECEIVED, I DID NOT CHANGE A COMMA, IT IS AS I RECEIVED IT//
