The lady you see in the video is Dona Ilair; Ilair Pereira de Souza, 53 years old, is known in the region as Pelinha. The dog's name is Beethoven, and he has not been found yet.
“He bit my arm trying to escape, but I couldn't hold onto him. If I had tried to help him, I would have died. Poor thing, he kept looking at me with those sad little eyes and vanished into that water. There was nothing I could do,” she said, showing the bite mark on her left arm.
President Dilma arrived at the site today and announced measures to help the victims. She stated that this is a time for solidarity and rescuing victims, promising funds for the reconstruction of the affected cities.
