Rafael Bussamra, the driver who ran over and killed Rafael Mascarenhas, son of actress Cissa Guimarães, was indicted for intentional homicide (when there is intent to kill) by the delegate of the 15th Police Station, Bárbara Lomba. Bussamra was speeding inside the Acústico tunnel, in Gávea, south zone of Rio de Janeiro, which was closed to traffic. Mascarenhas was skateboarding with two friends at the location. The accident occurred on July 20th.
According to the delegate, Bussamra was indicted for intentional homicide because there are indications that he was racing at the time of the accident with Gabriel Henrique de Sousa Ribeiro, his friend who was in another car and who was also indicted for intentional homicide. "The drivers knew that the tunnel was closed and the reports indicate excessive speed," said the delegate.
The driver was also indicted for the crimes of procedural fraud (for taking the car to the workshop after the accident), fleeing the scene, and active corruption. His father, Roberto Bussamra, was also accused of this latter crime. Both admitted to having paid R$ 1 thousand to two military police officers to cover up the accident scene and avoid arrest in flagrante delicto. The report was unable to reach the Bussamra family's lawyer. (Source: estadao)
