Bruno Fernandes de Souza (goalkeeper Bruno) is considered by the police to be the mastermind behind the disappearance and death of Eliza Samudio. He allegedly had an affair with the young woman, who filed a lawsuit in 2009 to prove that Bruno is the father of her child.
Luiz Henrique Ferreira Romão, known as Macarrão, allegedly, according to the police inquiry, kidnapped Eliza in Rio de Janeiro and brought the young woman to Minas Gerais, along with the teenager who is already serving a socio-educational measure for offenses similar to kidnapping.
Macarrão allegedly took Eliza to the place where she was executed, according to the police, along with former police officer Marcos Aparecido dos Santos, known as Bola. Macarrão is a childhood friend of Bruno.
Marcos Aparecido dos Santos, Bola
Former police officer Marcos Aparecido dos Santos, known as Bola, was indicted by the Civil Police as the executor of Eliza. He allegedly indicated the location for the young woman's murder and killed her.
Sérgio Rosa Sales, Bruno's cousin, was at the goalkeeper's farm in Esmeraldas, in the Greater BH area, on the days Eliza was killed, according to the police.
Sales said he saw Eliza alive on the farm and that she was injured.
Sales changed his version of the case several times in statements to the police and the justice system.
OTHER ACCUSED
Dayanne de Souza is goalkeeper Bruno's ex-wife. According to the police, she was with Eliza's son at the goalkeeper's farm in Esmeraldas, in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte, on the day of Eliza's execution and in the following days.
Dayanne also allegedly hid the child with acquaintances in the Greater BH area, according to the police. Wemerson Marques, known as Coxinha, and Flávio Caetano were with Dayanne and helped her hide the child.
Fernanda Gomes de Castro
On the show Mais Você, Fernanda Gomes de Castro, Bruno's ex-girlfriend, said that she took care of Eliza's baby in Rio de Janeiro on June 4, 2010, before Eliza was taken from the state capital to Minas Gerais by Macarrão and the minor.
On the trip to Minas Gerais, Fernanda accompanied Macarrão's car, according to the police inquiry, along with Bruno. She, the goalkeeper, Macarrão, the minor, Eliza, and the child spent a night at a motel in Contagem, also according to the police.
Elenilson Vitor da Silva has been Bruno's friend for seven years and worked as the goalkeeper's caretaker and secretary, handling payments and bills.
He told the court that he saw Eliza alive on Bruno's farm and that she moved freely around the property.
Wemerson Marques, known as Coxinha, accompanied Dayanne and Flávio Caetano on the day they took Eliza's son to a house in the Greater BH area.
Coxinha told the court that he saw Eliza alive on the goalkeeper's farm and that she was not injured.
Flávio Caetano de Araújo
Flávio Caetano de Araújo was Bruno's driver and accompanied Eliza and Coxinha in delivering Eliza's son to a family in the Greater BH area, on the days the young woman was allegedly killed, according to the police.
Araújo obtained a release order and was freed from the Nelson Hungria Penitentiary on November 27, 2010. He also allegedly took Dayanne to the police station to testify. Araújo had been imprisoned since July 9. (mixed news sources, highlight G1)
