The accident happened in September 2006. The Boeing 737-800 SFP lost a wing when it collided with a Legacy jet, recently purchased from Embraer.
Much was discussed about the accident, and flight safety was called into question, as several regulations were disregarded by the American pilots of the Legacy, and Brazilian air traffic controllers failed to identify the problem.
Now, on May 16, 2011, the sentences are issued, which after speeches became controversial this Friday the 19th.
