Carlos Alberto Rangel de Andrade, better known as Mingo Rangel, was born in Beira, Mozambique, in 1958 and passed away on December 25, 2024. He was a musician, singer, songwriter, and writer from Mozambique. He was part of the group Trio Odemira as a guitarist.

Born in the city of Beira, Mozambique, he began his classical guitar studies with Professor Alfredo Costa at an early age.

He has held a professional musician's card since 1979, when he was serving his compulsory military service at the Military Hospital at Estrela.

Shortly thereafter, he became a guitarist for the Portuguese musical group Trio Odemira.

Currently, he is a regular member of the Grand Union Orchestra, based in London, with whom he has performed in several European countries, including the Netherlands, Ireland, France, and the United Kingdom.

With this orchestra, he recorded an album in the renowned Queen Elizabeth Hall, participated in the Setúbal Music Festival, and performed at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

He collaborated with Lura, the new star of Cape Verdean music.

He is the author of several successful songs recorded and performed by renowned artists in the Lusophone music scene, such as Paulo de Carvalho, Dany Silva, Maria João Silveira, Tito Paris, João Afonso, among others. He also worked with the respected Galician singer Uxía Senlle on a song based on a poem by Federico García Lorca.

He has published the books “Roupa Lavada” and “Na Ardósia.”

In addition, he is the author of several plays and is passionate about writing, having published three books of poetry. Through his own publishing house (Ai de mim se não for eu), he is finalizing a new novel titled "Marés de arroz… marés do arrojo."

He set to music part of Camões' work in the play “Para cantar de ti,” with actors Henrique Canto e Castro and Luísa Ortigoso.

He wrote the play “Só nós dois,” which featured a special performance by actress Eugénia Bettencourt.

He also dedicated himself to teaching classical guitar.
