Dogmas

Did you know that the statement "God is one" is a dogma? I always hear about dogmas, many people are afraid of this word, without even knowing what it is. See the 43 Christian dogmas:

1- The Existence of God
"The idea of God is not innate in us, but we have the capacity to know Him easily, and in a way spontaneously through His work."

2- The Existence of God as an Object of Faith
"The existence of God is not only an object of natural reason's knowledge, but also an object of supernatural faith."

3- The Unity of God
"There is no more than one God."

4- God is Eternal
"God has no beginning or end."

5- Most Holy Trinity
"In God there are three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; and each of them possesses the divine essence, which is numerically the same."

6- Jesus Christ is true God and son of God by essence
"The dogma states that Jesus Christ possesses the infinite divine nature with all its infinite perfections, having been eternally begotten by God."

7- Jesus has two natures that do not transform or mix
"Christ is the possessor of an integral divine nature and an integral human nature: the proof lies in the miracles and suffering."

8- Each of the natures in Christ has its own physical will and its own physical operation
"There are also two physical wills and two physical operations indivisibly, so that they are not convertible, inseparably, and without confusion."

9- Jesus Christ, although human, is the natural Son of God
"The heavenly Father, when the fullness of time came, sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to men."

10- Christ immolated himself on the cross as a true and proper sacrifice
"Christ, by his human nature, was at the same time priest and offering, but by his Divine nature, together with the Father and the Holy Spirit, he was the one who received the sacrifice."

11- Christ redeemed us and reconciled us with God through the sacrifice of his death on the cross
"Jesus Christ willed to offer himself to God the Father as a sacrifice presented on the altar of the cross in his death, in order to obtain eternal forgiveness for them."

12- On the third day after his death, Christ gloriously rose from the dead
"On the third day, resurrected by his own power, he rose from the tomb."

13- Christ ascended into heaven body and soul and is seated at the right hand of God the Father
"He rose from the dead and ascended into heaven body and soul."

14- All that exists was created by God out of nothing
"The creation of the world from nothing is not only a fundamental truth of Christian revelation, but also that reason can reach it with its natural forces alone, based on cosmological arguments and especially on the argument of contingency."
15- Temporal character of the world
"The world had a beginning in time."

16- Conservation of the world
"God conserves all created things in existence."

17- Man is formed by a material body and a spiritual soul
"The human being is commonly constituted of body and soul."

18- Adam's sin is propagated to all his descendants by generation, not by imitation
"Sin, which is the death of the soul, is propagated from Adam to all his descendants by generation and not by imitation, and it is inherent to each individual."

19- Fallen man cannot redeem himself
"Only a free act on the part of divine love could restore the supernatural order, destroyed by sin."

20- The Immaculate Conception of Mary
"The Most Holy Virgin Mary, from the first instant of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege of Almighty God, in anticipation of the merits of Jesus Christ, the Savior of humankind, was preserved immune from all stain of original sin."

21- Mary, Mother of God
"Mary generated Christ according to the human nature, but He who is born of her, that is, the subject born, does not have a human nature, but rather the divine suppositum that sustains it, that is, the Word. Hence, the Son of Mary is properly the Word who subsists in human nature; therefore, Mary is true Mother of God, since the Word is God. Christ: True God and True Man."

22- The Assumption of Mary
"The Virgin Mary was assumed into heaven immediately after her earthly life ended; her Body did not suffer any corruption, as will happen to all men who will be resurrected until the end of time, undergoing decomposition."

23- The Church was founded by God and Man, Jesus Christ
"Christ founded the Church, and He established its substantial foundations in terms of doctrine, worship, and constitution."

24- Christ constituted the Apostle Saint Peter as first among the Apostles and as visible head of the entire Church, conferring upon him immediate and personal primacy of jurisdiction
"The Roman Pontiff is the successor of blessed Peter and has primacy over the entire flock."

25- The Pope has full and supreme power of jurisdiction over the whole Church, not only in matters of faith and morals, but also in the discipline and government of the Church
"According to this declaration, the Pope's power is: jurisdictional, universal, supreme, full, ordinary, episcopal, immediate."

26- The Pope is infallible whenever he pronounces ex cathedra
"To understand this dogma, it is convenient to keep in mind: The subject of infallibility is any legitimate Pope, in his quality as successor of Peter, and not other persons or bodies (e.g., pontifical congregations) to whom the Pope delegates part of his magisterial authority. The object of infallibility is the truths of faith and morals, revealed or in intimate connection with divine revelation. The condition for infallibility is that the Pope speaks ex cathedra: - That he speaks as the shepherd and teacher of all the faithful, using his supreme authority. - That he intends to define a doctrine of faith or morals to be believed by all the faithful. Pontifical encyclicals are not ex cathedra definitions. The reason for infallibility is the supernatural assistance of the Holy Spirit, who preserves the supreme teacher of the Church from all error. The consequence of infallibility is that ex cathedra definitions by Popes are irreformable in themselves, without further intervention from any authority."

27- The Church is infallible when it makes a definition in matters of faith and morals
"Subject to infallibility are: - The Pope, when he speaks ex cathedra - The full episcopate, with the Pope as head of the episcopate, is infallible when gathered in an ecumenical council or dispersed throughout the flock on earth, teaches and promotes a truth of faith or morals for all the faithful to uphold."

28- Baptism is a true Sacrament instituted by Jesus Christ
"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me; therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."

29- Confirmation is a true and proper Sacrament
"This Sacrament grants the baptized strength from the Holy Spirit to be inwardly strengthened in their supernatural life and to outwardly confess their faith in Jesus Christ with courage."

30- The Church has received from Christ the power to forgive sins committed after Baptism
"The power to forgive and retain sins to reconcile fallen faithful after Baptism was communicated to the Apostles and their legitimate successors."

31- Sacramental Confession of sins is prescribed by Divine Law and is necessary for salvation
"It is enough to confess the guilt of conscience only to priests through secret confession."

32- The Eucharist is a true Sacrament instituted by Christ
"Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life."

33- Christ is present in the sacrament of the altar by the Transubstantiation of the entire substance of the bread into His body and the entire substance of the wine into His blood
"Transubstantiation is a conversion in the passive sense; it is the transition from one thing to another. The substances of Bread and Wine cease, as the Body and Blood of Christ succeed in their place. Transubstantiation is a miraculous and singular conversion different from natural conversions, because not only the matter but also the form of the bread and wine are converted; only the accidents remain unchanged: we continue to see bread and wine, but substantially they are no longer so, because within them are truly the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Christ."

34- Anointing of the Sick is a true and proper Sacrament instituted by Christ
"Is any among you sick? Let them call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over them."

35- Holy Orders is a true and proper Sacrament instituted by Christ
"There is a hierarchy instituted by Divine ordination, which consists of Bishops, Priests, and Deacons."

43- The Last Judgment

"Christ, after His return, will judge all men."
