Synthesis: The crisis of our time - inequalities, injustices, disregard for ethics, commodification of values - permeates Politics, Economy, Law, and sciences in general, highlighting a compartmentalized model incapable of encompassing current problems, which are characterized by being global and complex. Law, therefore, needs to be viewed within the social context in which it operates and from which it receives influences, through the interconnection of its most significant aspects with reality.
The present work rejects a closed and empty legal discourse, pseudo-erudite and dissociated from the social, and focuses on the ambiguity of Environmental Law, which, while intended to address the ecological catastrophe, prioritizes development as if man were the master of nature, not a part of it, thus becoming the most important catalyst for environmental destruction.
In an objective and simple text, yet refined and with precise indication of its sources, the Author argues, in summary, for the understanding of the mutual dependence between science, sociology, and the philosophy of Law.
