
The much-anticipated Chrome Desktop is hot off the press. All indications are that it will be launched before 12/31/2010, but for now it will only be for Google employees; silviolobo will keep an eye on it.
Google's OS is being developed on Linux, which already sets it apart in terms of speed and security. However, as it is from a non-Windows platform, many expect it to be incompatible with some well-known programs. However, this is not a problem, as it is being developed for use on netbooks whose essential function is fast and secure internet connection.
The name of the system itself is quite self-explanatory; it will have the core functionality of the browser that is gaining more and more space on the internet. Just as today you browse the internet to read emails and view images and videos. In the future, typed texts, managed files, everything will be within your browser window.
