At 5:15 PM that day, the police were notified, just as the search was interrupted due to an intense storm.
There was no way to search for Marco Aurélio because there was a storm outside.
Those who tell this story often ignore that Marco Aurélio was outside!
If Marco Aurélio stayed still last night, he might have died of hypothermia, and would have been found since the area near the last place he was seen was thoroughly searched. But if he didn't stay still, he kept himself active and warm; in these conditions, he went far away.

They say that, at the height of the night of June 9, 1985, Maria, Seu Afonso's wife, prepared a soup, and everyone was having it. They were at Seu Afonso's house.
At that moment, they heard a whistle, and everyone automatically went out of the house, with Juan advancing to the woods.
Juan says he went to a second house and there he found a woman who, when questioned, said she hadn't seen anything. [13].
Juan details it as follows: we were waiting at Seu Afonso's house, as we couldn't go anywhere, when we heard shouts. He says he cannot confirm, but it sounded like Marco Aurélio, and they also heard whistles. They knew Marco Aurélio had a whistle. He asked everyone to be quiet and pay attention. At this moment, they opened the door and saw 'the light.' The light was not blue, as reported, but tended more towards blue than white. And the light flickered as if someone were walking. Juan says that upon arriving there, 'everything was dark.' Then a lady who was there, but hadn't been before, heard the shouts and came out. This woman denied having seen or heard anything.
At the time, there was indeed this third house, but this fact was never taken seriously by the police authorities, and it was not investigated.
Strangely, even with three scouts and Juan as witnesses, Seu Afonso denied having seen anything!
A major error in the search for the missing scout is that the first search inside a house would only happen in 2021, more than 36 years later.
It cannot be denied that Marco Aurélio may have been hidden in a house in the region.
Later that night, leader Gugu took leader Juan and the three scouts to his house. Only then did they call Marco Aurélio's parents. This happened between 10 PM and 11 PM.
