Chinese activist Liu Xiaobo won the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize. A professor and advocate for democracy in China, Xiaobo has been imprisoned since December 2008. He was sentenced to 11 years in prison for publishing a manifesto in defense of freedom of expression and multiparty elections in the country. He will receive a prize of US$1.5 million (approximately R$2.7 million).
Xiaobo is the most famous Chinese political dissident. He has been considered a problem by the country's government since 1989, when he joined the student protests in Tiananmen Square. source: G1
In contrast, China censored websites and Google searches. Liu Xiaobo's award was censored by the Chinese government; broadcasters transmitting the award went off the air, and there was a general censorship of the event in the country's press. A disgrace. But who has the courage to speak out against China? Growth at the cost of innocent blood.
