Alzheimer's disease is the most frequent form of dementia among the elderly. It is characterized by a progressive and irreversible decline in certain intellectual functions: memory, orientation in time and space, abstract thinking, learning, inability to perform simple calculations, speech disorders, communication and the ability to perform daily tasks. Other symptoms include personality changes and impaired judgment.
Mistakenly known by the population as "sclerosis" or "senile dementia," it is not related to circulatory problems.
