Former French Justice Minister Rachida Dati commented with a sense of humor on a gaffe where she allegedly swapped the word "inflation" for "fellatio," attributing it to speaking too fast.
"I only realized it later. Of course, when you listen carefully, I just spoke very fast, but well, it made everyone laugh," the right-wing MEP stated in an interview with RTL radio.
Invited to a Canal+ television program on Sunday, the former Justice Minister under Nicolas Sarkozy's government was talking about foreign investment funds when she made the mistake.
"When I see some asking for a return of 20 or 25% with almost zero fellatio [...]", said the former minister, who was very close to Sarkozy for a good part of the president's political career.
Commenting on the confusion on Facebook, the MEP was more stern, calling it "regrettable that this is the only political message highlighted" from her participation in the program.
Considered one of the stars of the French conservative scene, Dati is also the mayor of the 7th arrondissement of Paris. In recent years, she has become a tabloid figure due to her taste for luxury and rumors about the identity of her daughter Zohra's father, which has never been revealed, and the manipulation of a photo in which she appeared with a very valuable ring.
